WILD ANIMALS
滲みだしたような柔かなタッチで描かれた動物画を描くグラフィックデザイナー、Rop van Mierlo（ロプ・ヴァン・ミエルロ）。 Wild Animals (W.A.)は、アムステルダムを拠点として活動する彼の作品をベースとしたプロダクトを展開するプロジェクト。
著書『Wild Animals』でオランダ最優秀デザイン賞を受賞し、中に収録された作品を、イタリアのファッションブランドマルニがコレクションに起用したことでも話題を呼んだ（2013年）。水彩が滲むような画法を専門とする彼はそのプロセスがコントロールされ過ぎるのを嫌う。描写する動物のように有機的にインクが湿った紙の上を広がるままにさせ、予測出来ない滲みを活かす。“コントロールされていない” 状態を強調するオリジナルな画法を子どものときから用いており、スタイルが成熟した今もなお、無邪気な空気感が保たれている。
